When Johnny Cash began his long and fruitful career back in the 1950’s, music fans had but two choices to listen to his tunes; the first was through the radio airwaves and the second was a thin vinyl disc which became known as a record.

Unlike many artists, Johnny Cash’s career saw the advent of the 78 RPM record (a large disc containing one song on each side which played on a turntable at 78 revolutions per minute), the 45 RPM record (45 revolutions per minute) Extended Play 45’s (EP) which contained several songs per side but was the same size (7”) as a 45 and typically had a jacket resembling a miniature album cover. Finally, the 33 1/3 RPM record was introduced and fans could hear as many as 10 to 12 songs on the average Cash album.

To the true audiophile, there never has been and still isn’t a sound representing the purity and faithfulness to the original recording as the vinyl disc. The discs were played with a needle and were fairly fragile and easily scratched if mishandled, so most records were damaged and discarded and have little value to collectors.

coa3.jpgWe scour the world for original Johnny Cash rare and collectable vinyl and adhere to strict and conservative grading guidelines when we accept a record into our collection. When we buy large collections, it is not uncommon for us to discard as much as of 50% of the inventory as they do not meet the guidelines we have established. Hence, when you acquire records from the JohnnyCash.Com General Store, you will receive very nice collectables which you can enjoy for many years to come. Although many dealers do, we will not carry records below the grade of VG (as described below) in order to assure your satisfaction. Album jackets are in very good, gently used condition and will be visibly attractive for display. Each record will arrive housed in a clear plastic and a paper protective sleeve for extra protection. All records come with the renowned Johnny Cash General Store Certificate of Authenticity – the ultimate pedigree for any Johnny Cash collectable. CLICK HERE for our grading standards ...
